Sedge, Northwest Territory (Carex utriculata) Alberta Native
Price range: $5.00 through $11.00 excluding_tax
Description
This species is one of our larger sedges, reaching heights of over 3′. If you have a larger wetland area, it is a fine looking sedge, with a fountain like appearance, mosaic look sheath cover (it shows a cellular pattern on the stem), and miniature corn cob like seed heads. You can eat the interior of the stem and new shoots sprouting from the rhizomes. They taste slightly sweet.
