Bracted Honeysuckle (Lonicera involucrata) Alberta Native
Price range: $6.50 through $30.00 excluding_tax
Description
This shrub thrives best in moist semi shade and can grow to 3 m tall. The yellow tubular shaped flowers are cupped by green to purplish red bracts (hence the name). The flowers bow out to dark shiny purplish black berries that appear in pairs, hence its other common name, Twinberry Honeysuckle. It is a good pollinator plant, especially for hummingbirds and butterflies. The berries are also valuable food sources for wildlife but should not be consumed by humans.
