Description

A willow with long lance shaped greenish grey leaves. Younger leaves have silky white hairs and have smooth edges or with a few widely spaced minimal teeth. The long leaves make it a handsome landscape specimen. The twigs are flexible and can be used for basketry, while bark can be made into cordage. As with many willows, Sandbar or Coyote willow prefers moist banks, but once established it can handle periodic dry spells. Mature height can be around 7 m. A valuable wildlife shrub including males providing early pollinator food in the spring.
