Description

This variety has higher concentrations of valeric and valerenic acids. Valerenic acid is thought to be responsible for the potential sedative effect of valerian. This plant also has the same effect on cats as catnip. Both contain actinidine. Its unique aroma which depending on who you ask, is quite variable. Some say older plants smell like dirty socks, cheese or cat urine, while others find it quite pleasant!
