Fringed Loosestrife (Lysimachia ciliata) Alberta Native
$12.00 excluding_tax
Description
This is not the invasive Purple Loosestrife, but a yellow flowered native occurring in wetland and other moist soils. Fringed Loosestrife flowers throughout the summer and grows to a height of 2′, making for lots of pollinator food! The food it provides is different from typical nectar producing plants in that it is an oil that is offered instead. This makes it important for certain ground nesting bees as they often use the oil to line their nests to waterproof them and provide the correct humidity for their young.
