Dewberry (Rubus pubescens) Alberta Native
Price range: $6.50 through $16.00 excluding_tax
Description
Don’t let the small size of the berries fool you. They are so tasty you’ll just have to plant lots! This trailing shrub (or sub-shrub really) is great in moist shady to semi shady environments. Perfect under a canopy of larger shrubs or trees as long as it doesn’t get too dry. Unlike most members of the Rubus family, Dewberry has fairly smooth stems. The compound leaves are more pointed than raspberry or other relations and it generally stays under 12″ in height. It goes well with Bunchberry and Mainthemums. The fruit is more like Blackberry in that it does not come off easily from the receptacle.
