Violet, Northern Bog (Viola nephrophylla) Alberta Native
$6.00 excluding_tax
Description
An adorable little violet that loves damp situations! The round or kidney shaped leaves are all basal (they are not on stems), which helps to differentiate it from other similar species. The purplish blue flowers are held above the leaves on stalks. This feature combined with dark purple veins radiating outward on the lower petal from a white center act as a runway complete with beacons to assist pollinators in a successful landing and pollen retrieval. Northern Bog Violet is perfect for puddle gardens due to its small size, and when planted in clusters will add a sprinkle of colour along water edges and throughout wetland meadows.
