Ingesting thyme may improve coughing symptoms in relation to common colds, bronchitis and other upper respiratory tract infections. Thymol, one of thyme’s active constituents, has been proven as an antiseptic and has therefore been used in some mouthwashes and hand sanitizers and used to be used to medicate bandages. It may also be useful in treating toe fungus. Of course many are already aware of its culinary use.
