Description
The berries are edible when ripe (they turn from a green/purple striped pattern to a more glossy red or purplish when ripe) and have a bitter sweet flavour. High in vitamin C. Raw berries have more of a laxative effect than cooked so be aware. Young shoots can be eaten like asparagus in the spring.
