Locoweed, Late Yellow (Oxytropis monticola) Alberta Native
Price range: $5.50 through $12.00 excluding_tax
Description
This Oxytropis has silky hairs on the leaves which give the plant a more silvery look. Creamy yellow flower spikes (up to 16″ in height) rise above basal pinnate leaves (compound leaves with pointed tips). It grows in full sun in medium to drier soils. As long as there is enough depth for the tap roots it makes a good prairie container or rockery plant. Blooming from June to August, it is reliable but later compared to other locoweeds and deer leave it alone.
