At one point this was the hottest rated pepper out there. It’s a competitive title, but the Trinidad Scorpion Pepper is still one of the top hot peppers as of 2021 with only the Carolina Reaper, and possibly the mysterious Dragon’s Breath (so new it may not be a fixed type as of yet) being hotter at this time. The Scoville Heat Scale is a somewhat subjective method to measure heat, but despite people disagreeing on the specific Scoville Heat Unit number for any given pepper, they all seem to agree in generalities which peppers are the hottest!
